Description
A letter from the great and eminent Rabbi Yitzchak Elchanan Spektor, author of "Nachal Yitzchak, " Kovno, 1878.
The letter calls for assistance to the residents of the "unfortunate city" of Vilkomir in the Kovno district, which had been devastated by fire: "…to aid the unfortunate in the burned city of Vilkomir, Kovno district, where the disaster and destruction of six thousand of our brethren in this city is beyond words…".
The letter is signed at the bottom by "Asher Yechezkel Yaffe" – "David Rittenberg" – "Yisrael Levy".
The letter was written by a scribe, except for a few words at the beginning, which were likely written by the Rabbi himself.
The letter bears the full holy signature of Rabbi Yitzchak Elchanan Zt”l.
